"Rejoice always" does not talk about rejoicing in our circumstances, but rejoicing in our hope. And Colossians 1:27 tells us that the riches of the glory of this mystery is "Christ Jesus, our hope of glory."
That's something that God has been teaching me A LOT during this last month, through Sunday night church services, podcasts, books, and time in prayer& His word.
"Troubles in our lives are not evidences that God has abandoned us.
Your coming through tribuation with success is not so much about KNOWING as it is about being known. We want to know, "Why is this happening?" but that isn't always the solution to our joy. He told the Israelites "why" and they hated Him for it. You see, God does not prevent tribulation; He redeems it. This is seen in Job 23."
-Tim Chaddick
This is from a Reality LA podcast called "Differing without Destroying: In Aim." Tim also talks about a conversation he had with Britt Merrick. For those of you who don't know, Britt is the senior pastor of Reality Carpinteria, and the church planter of Reality churches. His daughter, Daisy Love, has had a recurring battle with cancer. She was in remission, but relapsed several months ago. Britt wrote a book called "Big God", chronicling his family's struggle, their suffering, and their faith in Jesus Christ through this battle.
Tim: What practical advice would you give someone who is going through a difficult situation similar to yours?
Britt: I would encourage you to make a daily decision not to get bitter, but to embrace the process. The only thing that gets me through the day is, when I wake up in the morning, not to get bitter, but to embrace that God is doing this for a purpose& He is in the process.
